About

Meeting in person to share ideas, tea, and each-others company is so important right now. We cannot forget the power of coming together.

We were blown away by the connections made and insights gained at the  inaugural Plant Cunning Conference last year, so we are going to do it again! One of our primary aims is to build bio-regional resiliency by gathering together and sharing in wisdom, food, music, and the magic of Nature.

Throughout human history, spirituality and herbal healing have worked hand in hand. There has only recently been a bifurcation of these sister sciences. Our goal and hope is to help maintain and cultivate a culture of holistic herbal healing integrated with spiritual technologies. We seek to uplift voices that focus on blessing, healing, integration and wisdom. We welcome people from diverse walks of life to convene and share the wisdom important to their own traditions.

What is plant cunning?

Cunning: The word “cunning” refers to knowing how to do something, especially something uncanny- something that others don’t know how to do, such as healing with plants and working with spirits.

Plant Cunning: Being “plant cunning” is being wise to the ways of plants, and not just the material ways.

Historic Use of the Term: The “cunning craft” and the “cunning folk” or “wise women” who were practitioners of healing and blessing or traditional folk medicine and magic in England and Europe, and colonial America from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century. They were clearly distinguished from witches who were known for malevolent magic, but the cunning folk were the healers of the village, especially in England.

The Plant Cunning Podcast: is a weekly podcast hosted by AC and Isaac who interview folks who are wise to the ways of plants and the natural world. They invite guests who are herbalists, astrologers, mages, farmers, permaculturists and thought leaders.

The Plant Cunning Conference is our live and in-person event featuring speakers, workshops, plant walks, artists and music to build community and resiliency through gaining new skills and knowledge and making new connections with like-minded plant people.

About Your Hosts

AC Stauble is an herbalist, farmer, and community builder. She’s the proprietor of Traveling Herb Farmer, a small herbal product line and educational herb business. AC's herbal training came from a variety of teachers including 7Song at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine.

Isaac Hill is a permaculturist, gardener, musician and astrologer. He's studying vedic astrology currently with Freedom Cole and has also studied with Christopher Warnock and Judith Hill. His folk family band is called The Hills & The Rivers and his recent solo album that was born on our farm is called Allegheny Ellegies.

Together they run a small herb farm and homestead called Cohosh Creek in Central NY, high on the Allegheny Plataea on the lands of the Oneida Peoples of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

They steward the land and ducks and geese, lots of medicinal and culinary herbs, fruit and nut trees, and flowers. This is where the conference takes place.

They are thrilled to invite you to come explore the beautiful fields, forests and gardens here.
